Math Teacher - 6th Grade
August 2014 - October 2015
After taking a position with the Wisconsin Virtual Academy as a Middle School teacher, I was asked to teach 6th grade math which was called Fundamentals of Geometry and Algebra. I taught this class everyday as well as supported 120 plus students who were enrolled in the class by hosting Open Office hours and via email /phone conversations. I also had a homeroom of 60 students that I was the point of contact for all things "homeroom." I fielded parent questions, did progress monitoring, sent progress notes, and conferenced 3 times a year. I also was was the Advanced Learner Program Coordinator while there.
4K Teacher
August 2013 - June 2014
After staying home with my sons for many years and working from home, I was offered a position with Pathway Preschool of Evansville and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get back into teaching. This was a brand new program being built from the bottom up and I was very excited to help give it a great start and foundation. I became very familiar with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards as we used this to drive our instruction and make sure that our students were being exposed to what they needed in order to be successful for Kindergarten. I co-taught on a daily basis and enjoyed having a co-teacher who I could bounce ideas off of knowing she would support me in whatever way she could.
We had a student centered approach allowing students to explore in their own way and take ownership for their learning. It was amazing watching their little mind grow and expand!

Writing Instructor - Ages 8-18
January 2011 - September 2014
I instructed writing courses for a program called Home2Teach owned by Mrs. Eileen Heath which I have done for the last 3 years. The students I teach range in age from 8 to 18 and live all over the world. I teach 5 classes per week including Let's Write Sentences, Let's Write More Sentences, and Fundamentals of Writing 2. Once a week for each class, I hold an online class meeting with my students to discuss the lesson for the week. Then, the students send me their assignments according to their daily schedule, and I edit assignments on a daily basis. I have very close contact with the parents of each of my students (which total around 40 each 6 week session) via email and phone if necessary.
I have co-authored one of the courses offered at Home2Teach (Let's Write Sentences) as well as written a course on my own (Let's Write More Sentences). Please take a look at the the lessons and student work/assessments for the classes I wrote below.
